The Iowa Grocery Industry Association has many working committees that are essential to our success as an organization. Please take advantage of this opportunity to add your name to IGIA’s list to take part in one or more of the committees listed below. Most committees meet 2-4 times per year or as needed. Charged with ensuring the Association supports cause-related initiatives that are strategically aligned with the organization’s mission, vision and legislative priorities. Meets 3-4 times annually.
Help us welcome new members by being an IGIA ambassador. This job involves calling new members, inviting new members to attend events and introducing these newbies to others at events.
Convention Auction Committee:
Got a competitive drive? This committee requires individuals to make calls and solicit companies for donations to the live and silent auctions, which benefit the Iowa Grocers Education Foundation. Drive, persistence and follow-up needed! Meets 4-5 times, February-June.
Feeling creative? Assist IGIA staff in planning convention activities, speakers and golf events. Have fun while using your imagination and exploring your inventive side. Meets 6-8 times, November-June.
Fall Golf Classic Committee:
Members plan and organize the fall golf classic. This includes obtaining sponsorships and company participation. Meets 2-3 times, August-September.
Government Relations Committee:
Make a difference! Plan and participate in the decisions concerning legislation affecting the grocery industry. Follow the different bills, talk with legislators as needed and work on Grocers Care Day, IGIA’s legislative event at the Capitol. Meets 2-3 times, October-February or as issues arise.
Develop innovative ways to attract new members as well as retain current members. Meets 3-4 times annually.
Scholarship Golf Classic Committee:
Help plan the scholarship golf classic, which benefits the Iowa Grocers Education Foundation. Make calls to solicit companies for raffle prizes, sponsorships and participation, Meets 4-5 times, January-May.
Women in the Industry Committee:
Guide this group in fulfilling its mission to provide education, support, encouragement, leadership and networking opportunities to advance women in the grocery industry. Meets 3-4 times annually.
