Applications Now Being Accepted for Supermarket S.M.A.R.T.S.

Application forms are now available and being accepted for the 2008 Supermarket S.M.A.R.T.S. seminar that will be hosted by the Iowa Grocery Industry Association April 29 to May 1. In addition to being available online, applications can be obtained by contacting the Iowa Grocery Industry Association office directly.

The program is restricted to the first 50 retailers who are accepted and will cost $700 per participate. A limited number of scholarships will be made available to help lessen the burden of the seminar fee. The scholarships will range in value of upwards to $350, and applicants must designate their need for a scholarship on their individual application form.

Supermarket S.M.A.R.T.S., which stands for Successful Managers Ambitiously Refining Their Skills, was created to meet the needs of store managers, owners, assistants and key department heads through the collaboration of the Iowa Grocery Industry Association and Harold Lloyd. This intense and jam packed three-day program is divided into three self-standing modules: Leadership Skills Development and Customer Service; Team Building; and Sales Building and Cost Control. Participants can take any combination of the course but must successfully complete all three to receive the Supermarket S.M.A.R.T.S. certificate.

An exact schedule for the 2008 Supermarket S.M.A.R.T.S. seminar has not yet been established. A full program schedule will be formulated and distributed to all class participants once the location of the seminar and times are arranged.
