More about our speakers:
Joey Beech learned the valuable lessons of finance from the school of hard-knocks early on in life. She worked her way through college and received a degree in Business Education from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.
Throughout her career, Joey has worked with financial products ranging from insurance, to mutual funds, to angel investing. Much of her career has consisted of understanding and working with financial strategies.
When her daughter started her career, Joey saw a need for simple, objective financial information. She decided to combine both her personal and professional knowledge to help young people and their parents understand the impacts of daily financial decisions. The result is A Girl’s Guide to Personal Finance.
Joey lives in Ankeny, Iowa where she and her husband raised their two children. Joey is also the executive director of Ankeny Economic Development Corporation.
As CEO of AE Dairy, Miriam has focused on building upon the strong legacy of commitment to quality and excellence. She has developed a new leadership team and set the vision for product innovation and branding.
One of few women in leadership positions in the dairy industry, Miriam has invested much of her career representing independently owned dairies through leadership on dairy industry boards. In 1994 she was selected by the Secretary of Agriculture to join the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP) Board where she has held many leadership positions.
Miriam also served as chair of the International Dairy Foods Association and the Milk Industry Foundation Boards. She is a board member and officer of The Innovation Center for US Dairy. In 2007 she was the recipient of the International Dairy Foods Association’s Soaring Eagle Award for extraordinary service in the dairy industry.
Miriam is committed to giving back to her community and has been active on many boards including Susan G. Komen Iowa, Des Moines Civic Center, and The Greater Des Moines Partnership. She currently serves on the Youth Homes of Mid-America Board of Trustees, Greater Des Moines Partnership Board and Chairs the Keep Iowa Beautiful Board. In 2013, Miriam was appointed by Governor Branstad to the Iowa Partnership for Economic Progress (IPEP) Task Force. In 2006, Miriam was elected Woman of the Year by Des Moines Metro Women’s Network. And last year she received the Nation Association of Women Business Owners (Iowa Chapter), Hall of Fame Legacy Award.
She enjoys speaking about the health benefits of milk, as well as creating (and of course, tasting) new AE yogurt flavors. She is married and lives in Urbandale with her husband and her golden retrievers. Miriam is also a 22 year breast cancer survivor.
