Iowa Grocery Industry Association Announces Hall of Fame Dinner – Thursday, Sept. 2

Honoring the Heroic Efforts of an Entire Industry

The Iowa Grocery Industry Association announces its 2021 Hall of Fame Dinner event to be held at the Iowa Events Center located at 730 3rd Street in Des Moines, Iowa.

“This past year has been a time of unprecedented challenges that tested our industry as never before,” says IGIA President Michelle Hurd. “All of our members met every challenge in a way that makes me so proud. It doesn't feel right to recognize just a few people so this year’s Hall of Fame Dinner will be held as a tribute to our entire industry.”

Hurd goes on to explain that the pandemic changed overnight the way retailers source products and the way they operate to supply Iowa communities with essential goods and services in a time of need.

“We worked around the clock and we had to look to one another for help and support. We came together as an industry to keep our employees and our customers safe,” Hurd says.

“Doing the extraordinary became an everyday event, and the efforts of all our members were nothing less than heroic.”

Given the outstanding performance of so many during this time of national emergency, the IGIA Board of Directors recommended an industrywide tribute rather than recognizing only a few individuals or companies during the 2021 Hall of Fame Dinner.

IGIA staff members are currently planning an outstanding lineup of state, national and industry dignitaries and recognition activities to honor our industry’s efforts over the past 18 months.

Also, new this year, the event will be held immediately following the end of the IGIA Get Connected Convention, which starts September 1 and ends at 3 p.m. September 2.
