Local grocery store set to begin construction after delays

WATERLOO, Iowa (KWWL) – The construction for the new All-In Grocers could begin around Thanksgiving.

Waterloo City Council members voted unanimously Monday to approve minor changes in the store site plan.

This new grocery store and restaurant will be near CVS Pharmacy at the intersection of Franklin and East Second Streets, and will span 25,000-square-feet.

The public spoke up at the meeting on where the progress is on the construction of the building. The store broke ground in April 2018 with over a million in funds to help the project, but haven’t started construction for two construction season.

The site plan approved by council shifted the store to the west, moving closer to CVS and away from homes.

The store’s website says it is a “local grocery store looking to provide access to an area that is need of a local option.”  The public also said this store would be another step in restoring the historic Walnut Neighborhood.

All-In Grocers is expected to include a Grandma’s Hands Restaurant and the Mrs. Willie Mae Wright Community Center.
