Kum & Go Plans Major Denver Expansion

The chain will open 13 new convenience stores in the state capital within a year.

DENVER—Kum & Go, with 400 locations in 11 states, continues its expansion with 13 planned stores opening in Denver in 12 months, including four newly opened since August. Those units will increase the number of Kum & Go stores in Colorado to 75.

“Personally and professionally I’ve been coming to Colorado my entire life. I love the state, and the energy and personality of Denver,” said Kum & Go President Tanner Krause, in a press release. “It’s great fun to announce that we are bringing the Kum & Go experience to the neighborhoods of Denver.”

Kum & Go is reinforcing its commitment to Colorado with its first foray into the Mile High City, with four new locations in Denver since August. Future 2019 locations include one in Westminster and one in Denver, with an additional seven planned to open in the Denver area in 2020, including two in Aurora, three in Arvada and one each in Wheat Ridge and Denver.

“For 31 years, Kum & Go has been proud to provide great service to customers in Colorado,” said Niki DePhillips, Kum & Go senior vice president of store development. “When we looked at new markets in Colorado to grow in, the booming Denver metro quickly rose to the top of our list. We’re excited for the opportunity to bring our friendly, fast and convenient shopping experience to the Mile High City.”

Kum & Go’s new stores are designed using energy efficient and sustainable practices, such as water-saving fixtures, roofs covered with white rubber finish to reflect the sun’s heat, and a concrete mix containing raw materials from within 500 miles of new stores. Electric vehicle charging stations continue to become more prevalent at Kum & Go due to partnerships with Tesla, which allow Kum & Go to offer fast-charging electric vehicle stations to customers.
