West Des Moines, IA (June 5, 2012)
– Whole Foods Market (NASDAQ: WFM) is proud to announce that Michael Durr, a seasoned retail and grocery professional, has been chosen to lead Whole Foods Market West Des Moines, opening Wednesday, July 18. Since joining the company nearly 20 years ago, Durr has established himself as a leader, most recently through his position as store team leader of Whole Foods Market Milwaukee. However, it’s Durr’s ties to Iowa that make him especially excited to bring Whole Foods Market to greater Des Moines.
"Having lived the first 26 years of my life in Iowa, I am thrilled to share Whole Foods Market’s wide variety of natural and organic foods with my home state," Durr says. “I’m so proud of Whole Foods Market’s unique shopping experience and look forward to offering all of that to my fellow Iowans.”
The store will reflect the company’s mission of supporting sustainable agriculture and the environment by featuring natural, organic and gourmet foods that are free of artificial ingredients and hydrogenated fats. With a focus on the highest-quality and best-tasting fresh produce, prepared foods, baked goods, meats and seafood, the store will appeal to a variety of customers ranging from the health conscious to serious gourmands.
Durr will ensure that Whole Foods Market West Des Moines has everything residents hope to find while shopping, and many pleasant surprises they won’t expect, such as in-store events, cooking classes and a variety of community support programs. Durr looks forward to providing a high quality, exciting shopping experience to the community.
