The Iowa WIC office was recently provided information from the USDA Food and Nutrition Services’ Mountain Plains Region Office that the Cash Value Vouchers for pregnant, partially breastfeeding and not breastfeeding women is changing.
The United States Department of Agriculture has decided to increase the Cash Value Vouchers from $8 to $10 for these participant categories and all states are required to make this change by April 30, 2010.
However, the State of Iowa has decided to make this change sooner. Effective February 1, 2010, all retailers in Iowa will see the increase when creating and issuing food packages.
Stores may continue to see some $8 vouchers until the later part of April because they are issued three months at a time. Therefore, CVV issued the later part of January will be good throughout February, March and April.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your state nutrition consultant.
