Iowa Pledge
Tobacco Compliance Training - As of April 11, 2004 clerks must be certified through the Iowa Pledge certification program in order to qualify for the affirmative defense. The classes are offered around the state at various times and locations. The schedule of classes is updated regularly, so check the State of Iowa Alcoholic Beverage Division website for the most up-to-date schedule.
After signing-up for a class, a person then attends the class, and at the end of the class, they receive information for registering on-line to take a 20-question quiz. Each person attending the training must score 80% or above on the test to receive certification. Certification is good for two years from the date of the test.
