IGIA Fall Golf Classic Returns to Hyperion in 2019
Event to be Held Thursday, September 19
Event check-in will open at 9 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m., and lunch will be served on the course.
“Hyperion Field Club provides an outstanding golf experience for our members,” says IGIA President Michelle Hurd. “The course provides topnotch customer service. We’ve held our event here before and it was a great success.”
Built in 1907 under the direction of course architect Tom Bendelow, The Hyperion Club course provides outstanding play and some of the most challenging greens in the Midwest.
“The Fall Golf Classic event sells out quickly,” adds Hurd. “The golf course can accommodate only a given number of golfers at one time so space is limited. Based on last year’s turnout, if you want to be a hole sponsor or just want to golf as an individual, it would be a good idea to register early.”
Golfers will gather in the clubhouse at the conclusion of the tournament for an awards ceremony including prizes, refreshments and appetizers.
In addition to providing a unique golf experience, this event also provides ample opportunities to network, build new friendships and catch up with old friends. “Our members make valuable business connections while having a truly enjoyable time,” says Hurd. “We hope you will be able to join us.”
This event accommodates a limited number of players so register early or call the IGIA office, 800.383.3663.
More About the Course
The Hyperion Field Club golf course features Penncross bentgrass tees and Penneagle bent grass fairways.
In 1992, the club initiated work on a golf course master plan designed by golf course architect, Bob Lohmann. This plan contains continuous updates to the golf course to keep it fresh and challenging for golfers of all levels. Many of the green surrounds have been updated with new mounding and sand bunkers, new tees were constructed to accommodate a four-tee system, the 12th green was rebuilt, and a pond was added on the 9th hole and the 14th hole was completely rebuilt. In 2000, two ponds with a connecting waterfall were added to the par 3, 14th Hole, making it one of the truly spectacular holes in the area. Most recently, a state-of-the-art irrigation system with greatly expanded coverage in the rough was installed to ensure championship playing conditions from tee to green. The course has a snack shop with restrooms located near the 6 and 12 tees.
This event accommodates a limited number of players so register today!
