2008 IGIA Fall Golf Classic
Course Locations to Take Center Stage
Fall will truly be in the air when the Iowa Grocery Industry Association hosts its 2008 Fall Golf Classic in the middle of September.
In past years, the IGIA’s annual golf outing crept up on the calendar and pushed the event into late summer. But this year, the Fall Golf Classic has been moved back by nearly one month to reinstall a fall-like atmosphere while also accommodating those who have busy summer schedules.
Helping the Iowa Grocery Industry Association reestablish a fall feeling will be two of Iowa’s premier golf courses. The Tournament Club of Iowa will be the site of the central Iowa outing while Blue Top Ridge at Riverside will host the eastern Iowa section, which is being made available for the second straight year.
Blue Top Ridge will bring a uniqueness to it that has not been seen in any previous fall golf events. As part of the recently developed Riverside Casino and Resort, Blue Top Ridge provides first class accommodations both on and off the golf course. This will be vital considering the eastern Iowa outing will played in the morning with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Rooms will be available at the resort for any golfer planning to arrive the night before and a breakfast will be served on the course with lunch following the round of golf.
While Blue Top Ridge will be dynamic in its amenities, the Tournament Club of Iowa is no pushover in central Iowa. An Arnold Palmer Signature Course that won an award from Golf Digest as one of America’s Best New Courses in 2004, TCI is challenging but appealing to golfers of all sorts.
The central Iowa outing will be played Tuesday, Sept. 16 with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch will be served on the course and dinner will be supplied after golfing in the TCI clubhouse.
